North Prairie Farmers Markets


Vendor Guidelines


The objective of the North Prairie Farmers Markets is to provide the communities and surrounding area with high quality, locally-grown fresh produce and products. It is also the intent of this organization to provide area producers with an outlet to sell their locally produced goods. The North Prairie Farmers Markets will help provide valuable information to both producers and consumers regarding the benefits of purchasing and consuming locally grown and made products.


The following items may be sold at the Markets:

  • Fresh produce, eggs, herbs, flowers, and other agricultural products

  • Prepared foods, such as baked and canned goods

  • Hand-crafted items

  • Other products and/or services as approved by the North Prairie Farmers Markets Advisory Committee


Guidelines


  1. Items sold are limited to regionally-produced agricultural products and food or crafts manufactured by local vendors unless previously approved by the Advisory Committee.

  2. All vendors must be members of the market.

  3. Vendors shall comply with all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations relating to the products they sell.

  4. All signs and displays shall be appropriate and in keeping with the spirit of the Market.

  5. After each market day your space must be cleared of all debris. Any significant amount of debris shall be taken with the vendor and not deposited in the public trash barrels.

  6. The Market Manager has the responsibility and authority to implement policy on all operations on the day of the Market and as the need arises.

  7. Vendors are required to collect sales tax and report it to the appropriate entities.

  8. The Market Manager may request proof of insurance. It is each vendor’s responsibility to properly insured.

  9. Market times will be precisely observed with set-up time starting 30 minutes prior to market times and a signal will indicate the start of the market. There shall be no selling before this signal is given.

  10. The Market Manager has the authority to ask any vendor to leave if their conduct has been inappropriate, especially in regard to unfair pricing, dumping of produce, and profanity.

  11. All vendors must display their membership cards or present them if asked by the Market Manager.
